Prayer
“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16)
Why are many Christians so often defeated? Because of the lack of prayer! Why are not our churches on fire for God! Because of the less and less time spent in prayer! Jesus is as powerful today as He was before. Although many Christians confess that they believe in prayer, few of them believe in the power of prayer.
As somebody said, “We are never so high as when we are on our knee” and the Word of the Lord says, “Pray without ceasing”. We cannot stay tall, in this world, for God unless we are on our knees continually! Do we believe that prayer is the greatest power?
Do we believe that prayer “moves the Hand that moves the world”? Continual prayer, 1 Thes 5:17, is not an unnecessary or an optional command from the Lord. It is the way of a Christian life. It’s our appointment with God in humility and brokenness! It’s our way to tell the Lord that we depend on Him and we need Him daily.
Let’s pray believing in the power of prayer!
Gospel

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Ps 119:10)
Scripture was very important for the Lord Jesus. All of His life was a fulfillment of the spoken and written Word of God. By the Word He conquered Satan! In His conflicts with the religious people He remind them: “Is it not written?”; Have you not read?”. In His teaching of the disciples He quote Scripture often. Jesus was and is the living Word of God!
For us His Word is the Seed that contains divine life. Through His Word He enters into us and brings heavenly life. This life enables the man of God to be light and salt for this world.
For us, His Word is the absolute Truth proven along side of centuries. Every word of the Bible speaks the truth; every prophecy in the Bible has been or will be fulfilled as predicted.
For us His Word is a sword to defeat Satan and is “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work”.
Believe in the Word of God and you will benefit eternal life!
Discipleship

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Mathew 28:18-20)
Jesus came from heaven to be the Light of the whole world. He was preaching repentance and the kingdom of God that was at hand and made disciples. Disciples have been sent to preach the Gospel in the cities of Judea. Before Jesus ascended to heaven he gave to the apostles The Great Commission to spread the Gospel not only in Judea, but to the whole nations. This great commission is our commission too.
He will shine in this world if we shine His light in this world. He will be known in this present time if we make Him known to the world. He has made Himself dependent on His body, on His members. This missionary work has to be done in the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised He will be with us always, “even to the end of the age”. In this mission we are not alone. God Himself is with us so we can rest an count on Him!
Believe in the Word of God and you will benefit eternal life!
Fellowship

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)
After declaring their faith in the salvation through Jesus Christ and then receiving the baptism in water (Acts 2:41), believers are called to a life of devotion to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of the bread and to prayer. The purpose of the Holy Spirit in a believer’s life is to bring him to maturity in faith, “clothing” him in Christ (Gal.3:27). This change brings along a shift in the goals a believer pursues in life. What do you pursue now that you are a child of God?
Fellowship is the workshop in which Jesus Christ, through the work of the Holy Spirit, prepares the believers’ hearts to be ready to serve and to walk in the deeds God had prepared for them to walk in.
Fellowship is the believers’ dedication to study the Word of God together with other fellow believers in a unity created by the love of God through the Holy Spirit.
Fellowship means continuously getting closer to God through intense prayers and partaking in the Lord’s supper. It is a life-long marathon. The lack of devotion to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer shows the spiritual poverty of the community of believers, a lack of interest in growing the inner being.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29)
Let’s pursue knowing our Lord!
